Infleqtion seeks a Technical Manufacturing Manager to lead a small team of engineering technicians responsible for building, integrating, testing, and troubleshooting low-volume, high-mix scientific hardware. This role bridges technical excellence and team leadership, combining hands-on physics expertise with people management. You will directly manage manufacturing technicians performing assembly, integration, optical alignment, test, inspection, rework, and troubleshooting. You are accountable for the technical quality and functional performance of all manufacturing output, the capability development of your team, and the successful transition of new and custom systems from development into controlled production. Key responsibilities include: **Team Leadership & Development**: Directly manage a small technician team, set clear expectations for workmanship and technical rigor, develop capability through structured training and coaching, and build development plans aligned with both employee growth and organizational needs. **Technical Quality Ownership**: Maintain oversight of active builds, ensure requirements and work instructions are understood and executed correctly, assess whether results demonstrate intended product behavior, and differentiate among workmanship defects, process variation, test-system problems, component failures, and design limitations. **Integration, Test & Troubleshooting**: Provide hands-on technical leadership during system assembly, optical alignment, integration, calibration, and failure investigation. Use physics-based reasoning and structured root-cause methods to resolve problems spanning optics, lasers, electronics, vacuum, mechanics, controls, and software interfaces. Guide technicians through disciplined troubleshooting rather than trial-and-error approaches. **Product Transition**: Represent manufacturing in requirements definition, design reviews, and verification planning. Evaluate buildability, serviceability, and repeatability of alignment and calibration approaches. Identify configuration-specific risks in custom builds and ensure resolution before execution. **Manufacturing Execution**: Partner with Production Management on priorities and delivery commitments by providing credible estimates of technical complexity and risk. Support development of controlled processes, qualification methods, and failure-review practices. Use as-built, rework, and test data to identify recurring problems and drive improvement. You bring a strong experimental-physics foundation and substantial hands-on experience with lasers, spectroscopy, ultrahigh vacuum, precision optical systems, or comparable physics-based hardware. You understand why products work—not only how they are assembled—and use that understanding to evaluate requirements, identify technical risk, and lead effective troubleshooting.
