Join Datadog's Technical Escalation Engineering (TEE) team as a Technical Escalations Engineer 2 focused on Revenue and Cost Management. You'll become the in-house expert on usage metering, billing behavior, and cloud cost management, helping customers optimize their observability spend across all Datadog product lines.
Your core responsibilities include leading escalations involving unexpected usage spikes, billing anomalies, metering discrepancies, and cost attribution issues. You'll partner closely with Product, Engineering, and Finance teams to investigate bugs, align on expected behavior, and drive transparency in billing and usage tracking. You'll build internal guides, tooling, diagnostics, and playbooks—plus customer-facing content—that empower the global Solutions team to confidently handle billing and cost-related conversations.
You'll act as a voice of the customer, surfacing patterns and feedback to shape the roadmap for usage visibility, billing transparency, and cost management features. This role operates at the intersection of Technical Solutions, Engineering, Product, and customers, with direct impact on platform performance and customer success.
Ideal candidates are detail-oriented and curious about how usage is measured, attributed, and billed. You should have a strong grasp of cloud cost drivers, usage attribution, and spend analysis. Familiarity with cloud billing models (AWS, Azure, GCP), APIs, product usage metrics, and tagging strategies is essential. You're comfortable digging into data retention, metric volume, log ingestion, and translating telemetry volume into cost impact. You work well across technical and business boundaries, communicating clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. Experience with edge cases, data anomalies, and root-cause analysis is valued.
