Impulse Space is seeking a Technical Accounting Manager to join its Finance team in Redondo Beach. This role serves as a key resource for technical accounting matters within a complex Aerospace & Defense environment, with primary responsibility for evaluating customer contracts and ensuring appropriate accounting treatment under U.S. GAAP.
The position focuses on revenue recognition (ASC 606), analyzing contractual terms related to performance obligations, billing milestones, acceptance criteria, contract modifications, and variable consideration. You will assess accounting implications of milestone-based billing arrangements and ensure alignment between revenue recognition, billing events, and accounts receivable timing. The role involves partnering with Contracts, Program Management, and Legal teams to review new contracts and amendments prior to execution, identifying accounting implications and providing recommendations. You will prepare and maintain technical accounting memorandums supporting key accounting conclusions and research complex or non-routine transactions.
Billing and accounts receivable responsibilities include monitoring contractual billing milestones to ensure timely invoicing, partnering with Billing and Program teams to resolve discrepancies between contractual terms and customer invoicing, and analyzing contract assets, contract liabilities, unbilled receivables, and deferred revenue balances.
General accounting duties encompass assisting with monthly, quarterly, and annual close activities including journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial statement support. You will maintain general ledger accounts, review balance sheet accounts for accuracy, support internal and external audit requests, and contribute to developing accounting policies and internal controls.
The role also includes identifying process improvement opportunities, implementing enhancements to contract review procedures and month-end close efficiency, providing technical accounting guidance to internal stakeholders, and participating in ERP or financial systems enhancements.
