Etched is building custom hardware for AI inference, combining chip design, racks, software, and manufacturing to optimize throughput and latency. As the first hire on the technical accounting and financial reporting team, you will architect critical accounting initiatives from the ground up.
You will own end-to-end revenue accounting under ASC 606 (IFRS 15), including complex contract review, multiple performance obligations, variable consideration, and non-standard deal structures. You'll partner with go-to-market, legal, and deal desk functions to assess revenue treatment for new products and bundled offerings before deals close. You'll implement and oversee NetSuite's Advanced Revenue Management (ARM) system in compliance with accounting standards.
Key responsibilities include researching and documenting complex accounting positions (R&D NRE, leases, stock-based compensation, debt/equity instruments, impairments), drafting technical memos for controller and external auditor review, and providing guidance on inventory, cost of sales, and warranty accounting. You'll lead preparation of external financial statements and footnote disclosures, ensure GAAP/IFRS and SEC compliance, and sign off on quarterly and annual close processes. You'll own equity-related financial reporting including tool selection and data conversion.
As the function grows, you'll build, manage, and develop a team of revenue and technical accounting professionals while strengthening internal controls (SOX-related). This is a high-trust role requiring end-to-end ownership of strategic projects and continuous process improvement.
Required: Bachelor's in accounting/finance, CPA certification, 10+ years progressive accounting experience including significant Big 4 public accounting or corporate technical accounting/revenue roles, deep ASC 606 expertise, broad GAAP knowledge, and prior people management experience. SEC reporting and public company experience strongly preferred. SaaS/technology experience a plus, especially with complex or usage-based revenue models.
Ideal candidates may have built technical accounting and financial reporting functions from 0 to 1 at high-growth venture-backed companies, with experience in inventory accounting, manufacturing cost accounting, hardware revenue recognition, warranty reserves, NRE, and complex customer contracts.
