STOKE Space is building Nova, a fully reusable launch vehicle designed for daily flight to radically lower space launch costs and increase flight cadence. The Technical Accountant will support the accounting and finance organization in a high-growth, mission-driven environment.
Key responsibilities include conducting technical accounting research and analysis under U.S. GAAP, preparing accounting position papers and memorandums for significant transactions, and developing accounting policies and procedures. The role involves evaluating accounting impacts of new business initiatives and contracts, monitoring emerging accounting standards, and collaborating with external auditors on disclosure matters and audit support.
You will lead accounting standards implementation efforts, working cross-functionally to assess process and system impacts from new guidance and participating in special projects on policy development and financial reporting improvements. Process documentation and internal controls are central: you'll develop process narratives, flowcharts, and procedure documentation; design and enhance internal controls over financial reporting; support control testing and remediation; and identify process improvement opportunities.
Financial reporting support includes assisting with accounting disclosures and supporting schedules, month-end/quarter-end/year-end close activities, drafting and reviewing notes to financial statements, and participating in special accounting projects and ad hoc analyses.
Required: Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field; 3–6 years of progressive accounting experience (public accounting and/or industry); strong U.S. GAAP and financial reporting knowledge; experience researching accounting guidance and preparing technical memorandums; excellent written and verbal communication; strong analytical and problem-solving skills; proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Office.
Preferred: CPA designation or active progress toward licensure; Big Four public accounting experience; technical accounting project experience (ASC 606, ASC 842, inventory, stock-based compensation, business combinations); internal control documentation and audit readiness experience; ERP systems and financial reporting tools familiarity; experience in manufacturing, aerospace, technology, government contracting, or high-growth companies; SOX compliance or ICFR experience.
