Ramp is building intelligent financial infrastructure for enterprise spend management, automating how over $200B in annualized spend flows across 70,000+ companies. The Travel team builds Ramp's embedded travel booking and management platform, enabling travelers to search, book, and manage flights and hotels while providing companies with policy enforcement, supplier integrations, and spend analytics.
As Tech Lead for the Travel team, you will lead and mentor approximately 6 engineers, with the team expected to grow. You'll own delivery across all travel management surfaces including search and inventory, quoting and repricing, checkout, policy evaluation, loyalty programs, and post-booking servicing. You'll ensure reliability and correctness of systems dependent on third-party APIs, GDS and aggregator content, and TMC/OBT integrations.
You'll partner cross-functionally with Product, Design, Operations, Partnerships, and Sales on enterprise travel commitments. A key focus is establishing team practices for AI-assisted development and shipping agentic booking features. You'll be responsible for hiring and growing the team while maintaining hands-on technical involvement—everyone at Ramp is a builder.
The role requires balancing strategic leadership with technical depth: you'll lead design reviews, evaluate architecture proposals, and maintain strong product judgment through customer conversations. You'll drive execution on ambiguous, high-stakes problems in a transactional system with complex external dependencies.
REQUIREMENTS:
- 2+ years managing engineers (team size 5–15)
- High ownership and ability to drive execution on difficult, ambiguous problems
- Track record of building something 0→1 and scaling it
- Hands-on technical capability; willingness to code and contribute directly
- Technical depth sufficient to lead design reviews and evaluate architecture
- Strong product judgment and comfort engaging with customers
- Experience owning transactional systems with external dependencies (booking, payments, marketplace, or logistics)
PREFERRED:
- Corporate travel domain experience (OBTs, GDS/NDC integrations, traveler-facing products)
- Enterprise B2B fintech or travel & expense background
- Experience rolling out agentic development tooling or shipping LLM-backed features
