Rocket Lab is seeking a Team Lead to head the Thermofluids Analysis team for the Neutron large rocket program. You will lead a multidisciplinary team spanning Aeroscience, Thermal, and Propellant analysis, taking ownership of all thermodynamics and fluid mechanics across launch systems.
Key responsibilities include:
**Leadership & Team Development:** Manage and mentor direct reports, providing coaching and professional development. Identify skills gaps, meet resourcing needs, and ensure successful delivery of strategic engineering projects.
**Technical Leadership:** Represent thermofluids domains to product-focused program teams. Inform and direct concept-level trades around architecture, operation, and capability. Evaluate systems for performance, environments, and characteristics. Use insights to shape requirements and drive risk posture across the program.
**Technical Execution:** Set appropriate fidelity levels for informed engineering decisions. Develop and maintain tools and capabilities that underpin the team's analyses. Engage stakeholders across the organization to unlock progress.
You'll be part of the Neutron team, responsible for bringing Rocket Lab's new large rocket to life—from designing and testing structures and components, to firing Archimedes engines, to setting up launch pads and test sites across the United States. This is an opportunity to help launch a new large rocket for the first time.
The role is based in Auckland, New Zealand, and requires hands-on technical expertise combined with strong people management and cross-functional collaboration skills.
