Rocket Lab is seeking a Senior Thermofluids Analyst to join the Thermofluids Analysis team supporting the Neutron large rocket program and Electron vehicle. This role is based in Auckland, New Zealand. You will own thermodynamics and fluids mechanics modeling and simulation across Rocket Lab's launch vehicles. Key responsibilities include: Propellant Systems: Lead propellant delivery and management analysis, covering temperature stratification, cavitation margins, transient behavior, propellant slosh, propellant management device (PMD) design, settling dynamics, and in-space thermodynamics. Perform computational fluid dynamics (CFD) analysis of internal fluid systems for both compressible and incompressible flows. Tank Pressurization: Address propellant depletion, residuals, and utilization control. Own tank pressurization system design, including pressurant budgets, in-tank thermodynamics modeling, and autogenous system sizing. Reaction Control Systems: Design and specify RCS systems, including nitrogen budget allocation, thruster specification, and flow modeling of valves and distribution lines. Thermal Analysis: Contribute to thermal management across vehicle systems. This is a technical individual contributor role requiring deep expertise in thermofluids engineering, CFD tools, and spacecraft propulsion systems. You will work on real hardware for meaningful space missions, supporting the development of Neutron's first launch.
