Applied Intuition is seeking a System Designer to lead the creation and evolution of design systems across its product portfolio. The company, valued at $15 billion and founded in 2017, provides digital infrastructure for physical AI across automotive, defense, trucking, construction, mining, and agriculture sectors. Eighteen of the top 20 global automakers and the US military rely on Applied Intuition's solutions.
In this role, you will define interaction frameworks, information architecture, and design systems that enable consistent scaling across multiple tools, platforms, and customer use cases. Key responsibilities include:
- Developing and evolving the foundational design language for a platform-level build system that supports multiple products rather than single applications
- Establishing scalable design system assets spanning design and code
- Defining agent-driven design system patterns that enable AI agents and coding tools to generate product experiences using approved components and rules
- Creating code-based standards, reusable skills, and implementation guidance for engineers and AI tools
- Establishing and maintaining accessibility standards across components and platforms
- Validating design systems across real products and workflows
- Supporting a multi-platform ecosystem including web, in-vehicle interfaces, devices, enterprise tools, and emerging surfaces
- Defining patterns for multiple interaction models: click, touch, voice, and agent-driven interactions
- Maintaining high standards for visual design, brand, usability, accessibility, and consistency
- Creating comprehensive documentation for designers, engineers, customers, and AI-assisted development workflows
Required qualifications include 6+ years in product design, UX design, or design systems work (ideally on complex B2B, technical, or data-heavy software), a bachelor's degree in engineering or design, strong experience building and scaling platform-level design systems, excellent visual and interaction design skills, deep understanding of design system architecture and accessibility, experience translating design systems into production code and reusable components, systems thinking for complex enterprise ecosystems, close partnership experience with engineering teams, and strong documentation and communication abilities.
Nice-to-have skills include shipping design system components in production codebases, creating AI coding guidelines and agent-driven workflows, running research or usability validation, designing for automotive or enterprise software, and experience with embedded devices, voice, multimodal, or agent-driven interfaces.
