Crusoe is a vertically integrated AI infrastructure company building the next generation of energy-efficient data centers and cloud services. As Director of Sustainability, you will lead the integration of sustainable design standards and construction practices across Crusoe's Digital Infrastructure Group, combining deep technical expertise in green building with strategic leadership across corporate sustainability initiatives. You will own three core pillars: (1) Sustainable Design & Construction—leading implementation of sustainability standards across digital infrastructure projects, partnering with internal teams and external architects/engineers/contractors; monitoring key metrics like Power Usage Effectiveness (PUE), Water Usage Effectiveness (WUE), and Carbon Usage Effectiveness (CUE); evaluating and implementing efficiency technologies (AI-driven energy management, water reuse, renewable energy, grid interactivity); and driving green building certifications (LEED, Green Globes). (2) Embodied Carbon & Materials—owning strategy for measuring and reducing embodied carbon, driving adoption of whole-life carbon assessment methodologies, engaging suppliers on low-carbon materials, and piloting novel low-carbon technologies. (3) Broader Sustainability Initiatives—supporting development of company-wide sustainability strategy across energy, water, waste, biodiversity, and supply chain; contributing to sustainability reporting (GHG inventory, ESG disclosures, Scope 1/2/3 emissions); shaping communications for executives, engineers, clients, investors, and stakeholders; managing third-party consultants and certification bodies; and supporting community/policy engagement. You bring 8–12 years of progressive experience in sustainability, environmental management, or ESG strategy, ideally in data centers, cloud infrastructure, technology, or energy sectors. You have deep technical knowledge of data center energy consumption, cooling systems, and operational efficiency metrics; strong expertise in sustainability reporting frameworks (GRI, SASB, CDP, TCFD); and proven success developing and executing enterprise-wide sustainability programs in fast-paced, high-growth environments. You excel at stakeholder management with C-suite executives, investors, and regulators; communicate complex environmental data clearly to diverse audiences; manage multiple geographically distributed initiatives; and are willing to travel up to 15% annually.
