Revolut is seeking a Subject Matter Expert with deep payments expertise to establish and manage local payment infrastructure in Romania. This role sits within the Customer Support and Operations function, serving as the primary liaison between Revolut and local payment systems, central banks, and settlement providers.
Key responsibilities include: establishing local payments infrastructure; building and maintaining relationships with local payment system operators; ensuring full regulatory compliance; managing end-to-end payment operations (processing, reconciliation, settlement, issue resolution); coordinating with IT and cross-functional teams to resolve technical and compliance issues; monitoring payment performance and identifying operational risks such as fraud or disruptions; and staying current with regulatory changes and industry innovations.
The ideal candidate brings 5+ years of experience in payments implementation, solutions consulting, or technical product management, with a proven track record managing complex, multi-stakeholder payment implementations across multiple markets simultaneously. Required expertise includes payment rail architecture (processor configurations, scheme gateways, corridor setup), ability to challenge technical decisions and validate integration designs independently, and senior-level relationship management with payment scheme operators and central banks. Strong project and programme management skills are essential, along with a high-ownership mindset, exceptional communication, and fluency in English.
