Salary: EUR 138,100 - 207,100 / annual
DTX Pharma, a Novartis Company, is seeking a Strategy & New Product Head to drive strategic planning and growth initiatives at the country level. This director-level role is responsible for advancing early-stage market launch activities, shaping the portfolio and pipeline, and fostering faster decision-making with clear accountability across the organization.
Key responsibilities include: leading country-level strategic initiatives that support the overarching growth strategy; identifying, evaluating, and prioritizing strategic opportunities and revenue potential to ensure sustainable future growth; coordinating the annual strategic planning process with strong cross-functional alignment on operational priorities and country targets; assessing organizational capabilities against strategy and market dynamics, proposing targeted improvements for implementation and long-term readiness; evaluating and planning product strategies for early market launch in collaboration with global and local stakeholders; driving early-stage launch activities and ensuring successful market readiness; developing commercialization strategies with business units and supporting "ONE Brand Plan" implementation for key pipeline products; building and strengthening country-specific capabilities for successful launches through best practice anchoring and readiness improvement; delivering country-specific contributions to internal pipeline and international operating model milestones, including external business development perspectives; contributing to long-term business unit portfolio strategy by integrating country insights, market dynamics, and cross-functional perspectives into multi-year plans; leading and coordinating cross-functional teams to implement strategic priorities while modeling Novartis Leadership Expectations & Behaviours and fostering transformation, performance, and growth mindset; building a high-performance culture through talent acquisition, development, retention, performance management, coaching, succession planning, and critical capability strengthening across the country organization.
Required qualifications: university degree in Life Sciences or Business Administration (MBA or advanced management degree preferred); fluent English (German desirable); minimum 10 years of leadership experience in pharma or life sciences industry and/or consulting, ideally with experience in both; demonstrated success in strategic planning, portfolio management, or new product launches in pharma or life sciences; experience in early-stage launch planning, marketing strategy, and/or business development; strong strategic thinking and analytical capabilities; deep understanding of pharma market and product lifecycle; proven ability to lead cross-functional projects and collaborate effectively with global and local stakeholders; excellent project management skills and ability to drive multiple initiatives simultaneously in a fast-paced environment; strong stakeholder management, communication, negotiation, and persuasion skills; experience in matrix leadership and talent development, including building high-performing diverse teams, coaching, succession planning, and influencing across complex functional and regional interfaces; change management and organizational development experience is advantageous.
