Chai Discovery is building the design suite for molecules using frontier AI models that learn biochemical structure and interaction. The company partners with leading pharmaceutical companies including Eli Lilly, Pfizer, and Novartis to power drug discovery programs.
You will join a newly formed strategy team tasked with answering the hardest open questions about Chai's business and translating them into actionable decisions. The role spans problem framing through implementation: you'll scope problems, conduct primary research with customers and external experts, build quantitative cases, reach conclusions, and drive execution across teams.
Key projects span pricing strategy, market segment and product expansion decisions, competitive positioning, lab capacity scaling, compute infrastructure (buy vs. build), and talent acquisition. The work is consequential—decisions made here directly shape the company's trajectory in a market with few precedents.
You will need to influence cross-functionally, pushing decisions until they land. A project is complete only when the decision is made and operationalized, not when analysis concludes.
Qualifications:
- Structured, quantitative thinker with strong instincts and ability to produce conclusions, not just inputs
- Comfortable making justified assumptions with incomplete information; disciplined about revisiting them
- Strong ability to influence and drive decisions across teams
- Likely background in management consulting, venture/growth investing, or quantitative research, with possible transition into strategy or special projects at a high-growth technology company
- Data science or computer science experience is a plus
- Biotech or pharma experience is not required; range across industries and ability to learn technical domains quickly is valued
