Sierra is the leading platform for customer-facing AI agents, serving major brands including The GAP, Rocket Mortgage, SoFi, Sutter Health, and SoftBank. The company recently achieved FedRAMP High certification and is building a founding public sector team to bring AI-powered agents to US government agencies. As an Agent Strategist on the Public Sector team, you will own the complete agent development lifecycle for government customers—from initial scoping through conversation design, tooling, evaluation, launch, and continuous production iteration. You will serve as a trusted strategic advisor to public sector leaders, working shoulder-to-shoulder with agency executives and program leaders to define success metrics, prioritize opportunities, and shape AI strategy grounded in mission impact. Key responsibilities include: - Owning the agent development lifecycle, translating mission goals, policy requirements, and operational workflows into reliable production agents - Acting as a strategic advisor to public sector leaders, defining success and shaping AI strategy - Running cross-functional working sessions with program, operations, technology, security, legal, and procurement teams - Identifying expansion opportunities and developing roadmaps for new use cases (proactive outreach, multilingual access, long-horizon agents) - Directly influencing Sierra's product roadmap and public sector strategy by surfacing unmet customer needs Example projects include: launching agents to improve access to benefits and services; modernizing constituent support with policy and status inquiry agents; building trusted reporting experiences for fraud and safety concerns; enabling proactive government services; and developing repeatable public sector capabilities. You will work on high-stakes problems including helping citizens access social services, report fraud, and understand complex government systems, while empowering government officials to better serve their constituencies. REQUIREMENTS: - Proven track record of leading multiple complex, high-visibility initiatives and driving cross-functional teams from ambiguous starting points to measurable outcomes (e.g., early-stage team, consultancy, or similar) - Technical aptitude: comfort engaging directly with technical concepts including API documentation, data models, system architecture, and engineering/security tradeoffs - Passion for public sector work and belief in institutions' potential to improve outcomes - Clear, direct, persuasive communication across executive, operational, policy, and technical audiences - Strong analytical and critical-thinking skills to break down complex problems, spot risks, and adapt to changing conditions PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: - Hands-on experience building or deploying AI/LLM agents in production, including familiarity with eval frameworks, agent tooling, RAG, and prompt engineering - Experience working in or with federal, state, or local government (procurement, security/compliance, accessibility, policy implementation, systems integration) - Founder, founding team member, or operator experience - Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, related technical field, or equivalent practical experience; MBA or comparable technology-business experience
