You will serve as the Strategic Finance Lead, reporting directly to the founders. This is a high-autonomy individual contributor role focused on being the finance brain of the company—not managing a large team or running accounting operations. You'll partner with the controller (who owns accounting and close), product, and growth teams to drive toward a 1x burn multiple and sustainable profitability.
Key responsibilities include: (1) Financial planning and analysis—owning the operating model, 18-month budget, monthly forecasting, and board reporting; (2) Treasury and cash management—managing cash positioning across multiple bank accounts, credit facility management, covenant compliance, and 13-week rolling cash flow forecasts; (3) Vendor and partner negotiations—leading commercial negotiations for key vendor contracts and banking/processing partnerships; (4) Pricing strategy—analyzing product-level unit economics, interchange dynamics, and margin management across card and payments products.
The role operates as an AI-first function, with agents and automations as the default before hiring headcount. Over time, this role can expand into fundraising support and broader strategic projects with founders.
You bring 5–8 years of finance experience, ideally starting in investment banking, private equity, or management consulting, followed by strategic finance or FP&A at a startup. You build clean, driver-based financial models and can defend every assumption. Commercial negotiation experience (vendor, partner, or banking agreements) is a strong plus. You're comfortable with ambiguity, prefer end-to-end ownership, and already use AI tools like Claude daily. Fintech experience (card programs, sponsor banks, payments economics) and Spanish fluency are pluses but not required. An interest in serving underserved communities is valued.
