Beacon Software is building essential technology infrastructure for vertical market software companies—niche, founder-built businesses serving overlooked industries. The company acquires, operates, and grows these businesses with an AI-native platform, backed by $550M+ in funding from top-tier investors including General Catalyst, Lightspeed, and D1 Capital.
This is Beacon's first Strategic Finance hire, reporting to the VP of Strategic Finance. You will work closely with the CEO, CTO, M&A Directors, industry pod leaders, and portfolio company General Managers to shape Beacon's financial strategy and capital allocation decisions.
Key responsibilities include:
**Finance Partner to Portfolio Companies**: Partner with industry leaders and General Managers as the financial decision-making engine across the portfolio. Translate product, AI, and operator intuition into investment decisions around pricing, hiring, marketing spend, engineering allocation, and tuck-in M&A. Build value creation plans, set budgets and targets, and drive day-to-day capital decisions.
**Capital Allocation**: Own platform-level capital allocation decisions—organic platform investment vs. inorganic M&A, platform acquisitions vs. tuck-ins, debt vs. equity at the corporate level. Build analytical rigor behind platform-level bets to ensure capital deploys where returns are most asymmetric.
**Strategy Extension**: Lead new strategy extensions beyond core software M&A, starting with software-plus-services vertical integration in end markets where Beacon already owns software. Own thesis through acquisition through ownership, partnering with M&A on execution while driving strategy, diligence, and post-close build.
**Capital Markets**: Lead Beacon's debt strategy, support future equity raises, and prepare for eventual IPO. Build best-in-class debt and equity investor relations, positioning Beacon as an institutional-grade capital allocator.
**AI-Native Finance Systems**: Partner with the CTO and engineering leadership on company-wide tools that scale across the portfolio, including BeaconOS and AI-native financial systems. Build dashboards and decision frameworks that let sector leaders and GMs self-serve financial answers, enabling the finance function to scale non-linearly.
You should be an enthusiastic, energetic self-starter with the ability to translate operator intuition into financial decisions and build analytical rigor. You'll manage multiple workstreams simultaneously across portfolio companies and platform initiatives, contributing ideas on improving status quo and creating best practices. Teamwork and positivity are foundational to the culture.
Location is flexible for discussion; Beacon has offices in Toronto, San Francisco, New York, and Chicago.
