Generalist is building embodied foundation models and general intelligence for the physical world, focusing on dexterity and enabling robots to intelligently interact with their environment. The company combines large-scale AI and robotics, with a founding team from OpenAI, Boston Dynamics, Google DeepMind, and other frontier labs. The Strategic Deals Lead will own the structuring, negotiation, and expansion of Generalist's most important commercial and strategic relationships. This role sits within the Applied AI & Partnerships team and works closely with technical and executive leadership to convert strategic relationships into durable, scalable commercial agreements. Key responsibilities include: - Independently structuring, negotiating, and closing complex, high-value commercial transactions and partnerships from initial terms through definitive agreements, renewals, and expansions - Developing creative deal structures for emerging technologies and business models, balancing strategic value, economics, technical feasibility, and long-term company interests - Leading commercial negotiations and partnering with legal counsel on complex contractual issues including training data rights, model and fine-tune rights, IP, exclusivity, deployment, and emerging AI/robotics concepts - Working closely with technical teams to understand technology and translate product, model, data, and deployment requirements into appropriate deal structures - Driving commercial strategy for major partnership renewals and expansions - Synthesizing transaction learnings into recommendations for leadership, including negotiation positions, deal frameworks, and market intelligence The ideal candidate has 8-10+ years of experience in strategic deals, corporate development, strategic partnerships, or technology transactions, with demonstrated track record of independently structuring and closing complex, high-value deals. Strong commercial judgment, ability to understand sophisticated legal concepts, and experience negotiating agreements involving novel technologies, non-standard structures, or complex IP and data considerations are essential. The role requires excellent communication skills, ability to operate under pressure, and comfort in a fast-changing environment where priorities and responsibilities evolve quickly.
