Salary: USD 350,000 - 400,000 / annual
Decagon is a conversational AI platform enabling enterprises to deploy AI agents for customer support and operations across voice, chat, email, SMS, and other channels. Clients include Avis Budget Group, Block (Cash App/Square), Chime, Oura Health, and Hunter Douglas.
As Strategic Account Director for Federal, you will own and develop relationships with large federal government agencies, navigating the unique procurement landscape of the public sector. You'll be responsible for building pipeline, executing account strategies, and closing deals within federal buying constraints.
Key responsibilities include:
- Developing and executing account strategies to break into and close strategic federal accounts
- Building trusted relationships with diverse stakeholders: program managers, contracting officers, technical evaluators, and end users
- Navigating federal contract vehicles (GSA Schedule, SEWP, CIO-SP3, OTA, IDIQ) and working through resellers, systems integrators, or GovCon primes as needed
- Understanding agency mission priorities, budget cycles, and procurement constraints to shape deal strategy and timing
- Collaborating with solutions engineering, deployment, and security/compliance teams to address FedRAMP, ATO, and security requirements
- Accurately forecasting pipeline given the long federal sales cycle
- Providing product and leadership feedback on federal market needs
- Maintaining expert-level knowledge of the product, federal buying landscape, and compliance requirements
- Moderate travel expected
Required qualifications:
- 5+ years federal/public sector enterprise or strategic sales with track record of hitting strategic-level quota
- Demonstrated experience closing deals through at least one federal contract vehicle or via reseller/SI/prime relationships
- Strong understanding of federal procurement (RFPs, RFIs, RFQs, sole-source justifications)
- Ability to discuss security/compliance requirements (FedRAMP, ATO, CMMC) credibly with technical buyers
- Strong business acumen and C-suite communication skills
- Consultative selling approach focused on value-based solutions
- Ability to manage multiple stakeholders and cross-functional initiatives
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience
Preferred: active or recently-active security clearance (Public Trust, Secret, or TS/SCI); existing relationships with SI/reseller partners.
