Uniti AI is a Series A startup building advanced AI sales and support agents for the real estate industry. As a Staff/Principal Product Engineer, you will own problems end to end: from customer discovery and data analysis through to building and shipping proofs of concept and MVPs. This is a deep systems and AI engineering role, not product management or frontend work.
You will spend significant time in discovery conversations with customers and in the codebase, shipping prototypes that validate whether new ideas deserve to become core product. The core product consists of AI agents, the agent harness, and agentic workflows running on them. You will work directly with the Head of Product and sit alongside the platform engineering team, collaborating on product direction and technical strategy.
Key responsibilities include: owning the full arc of product bets from research through MVP; working directly with customers and go-to-market teams to identify gaps and opportunities; designing and building agentic workflows, agent harness improvements, tool integrations, and backend systems; making data-backed decisions on what to build, cut, or kill; handing off proven prototypes to platform engineering or productionizing them yourself; setting evaluation standards for agent quality through evals and instrumentation; and debugging problems across the stack with full ownership mentality.
This role is ideal for someone who thrives in ambiguity, can define vague business problems, and wants to ship working solutions quickly. You will have the autonomy to shape product direction and the technical depth to execute on it.
REQUIREMENTS:
- 8+ years building and shipping production software with a track record of owning products end to end rather than executing specs
- Experience as a founder, founding engineer, or product engineer at an early-stage company, responsible for both the "what" and the "how"
- Strong backend engineering skills with Python and TypeScript experience
- Full stack capability: able to build working interfaces for prototypes, though this role is not primarily frontend or UI/UX focused
- Comfort with ambiguity: able to take vague business problems, define them, and return with running solutions
- Production experience with LLM-based systems, agents, or agentic workflows
- Experience with AI coding tools like Cursor and Claude Code
- Based in or able to work hybrid from New York City or London
- Fluency in English required
PREFERRED:
- Experience building vertical AI products, ideally in real estate, proptech, or operations-heavy industries
- AWS technologies experience
- Voice, SMS, or email infrastructure experience
- Comfort presenting to customers and partners, communicating data-driven arguments to business audiences
- Experience designing evaluation frameworks for non-deterministic systems
