Datadog is building a Design Lab team to evolve how its product looks, feels, and operates. As a Staff Visual Designer, you'll define and evolve Datadog's visual language across product surfaces, establishing the visual quality bar for the platform. You'll lead exploratory and concept work that pushes the design system forward, translating bold visual ideas into scalable patterns that can live inside a design system.
You'll partner deeply with Brand, Product Design, and Design Systems teams to unify expression across product and marketing. Your work will influence executive stakeholders through clear, compelling visual storytelling. You'll prototype, test, and refine new patterns before they become systemized, and help shape how visual direction is integrated into the design process.
Reporting directly to the Design Director, you'll work as part of a small, focused team defining the future state before it scales across hundreds of designers and engineers. Your decisions will shape how millions of interactions feel across web, mobile, and emerging AI-driven surfaces.
You bring 10+ years of experience in visual and/or product design, with a track record of leading meaningful visual evolution or rebrands within mature product ecosystems. You have strong taste, are comfortable defending a point of view, and know how to translate brand into scalable product systems. You think in systems but are motivated by craft. You're comfortable operating in ambiguity and defining direction where none exists, and can influence across design, engineering, and executive partners. Your portfolio demonstrates exceptional visual craft and product thinking—not just applied systems work.
