Grafana Labs is seeking a Staff Technical Writer to create documentation and learning content for its observability platform, trusted by over 10,000 organizations including Anthropic, Bloomberg, NVIDIA, Microsoft, and Salesforce. You will work with engineers, product managers, and the writing team to produce content across multiple products and audiences—from first-time users to experienced practitioners. Key responsibilities include planning, researching, writing, and maintaining documentation and learning content (concepts, tasks, tutorials, references, and in-product learning) that supports product adoption and mastery. You will leverage AI-assisted workflows and tools throughout the content lifecycle—from research and drafting to review, validation, and maintenance—applying human judgment to verify accuracy and quality. You'll contribute to the team's shared AI workflows, partner with engineers and PMs to understand product requirements and interview subject matter experts, and translate complex technical details into clear, accurate content. You will test what you document by running the software and following your own procedures, flagging product and UX gaps. You'll use documentation and learning analytics, along with user feedback, to identify content gaps, prioritize work, and demonstrate impact. You'll collaborate with the documentation manager and other writers to improve information architecture, voice, and consistency across documentation. You'll manage multiple projects simultaneously, mentor teammates, and help raise the quality of the team's work. Grafana Labs is a 100% remote company with team members across 40+ countries, backed by leading investors including Lightspeed Venture Partners, Sequoia Capital, and others. The company is built on open-source foundations and emphasizes transparency, autonomy, and trust. REQUIREMENTS: - Experience writing or documenting enterprise or developer-facing software, with a portfolio or writing samples demonstrating technical depth - Hands-on experience using AI tools and models in your writing workflow (LLM assistants, agentic coding tools, custom prompts and skills) and ability to explain how you evaluate and verify their output - Experience with docs-as-code: command-line Git, GitHub (pull requests and reviews), Markdown, and common IDEs - Comfort working in technical environments; ability to set up, run, and troubleshoot software yourself to verify documentation (command line, containers, Kubernetes, or willingness to learn quickly) - Experience collaborating with engineers and product managers to obtain accurate technical information - Experience working remotely and asynchronously on distributed teams - Bonus: Experience with observability, monitoring, cloud-native tooling, or open-source documentation contributions
