Salary: USD 100,000 - 300,000 / annual
Hercules is building the future of AI software development. We're looking for a Staff-level infrastructure engineer to help scale and maintain the systems powering our platform.
You will own and evolve the infrastructure across multiple product pillars:
- AI Agent: the AI harness enabling anyone to build full-stack applications
- App Builder: the interface for building, previewing, and deploying apps
- App Hosting: the backend serving 100s of thousands of apps at scale
- SDK: the headless SaaS layer (Hercules Commerce, Auth, CMS, Files & Media, etc.)
- Platform: enterprise-grade infrastructure supporting 100s of thousands of users
You'll work on large, data-intensive, multi-tenant distributed services. The role requires independent ownership—shipping changes that directly impact customers and driving architectural decisions across the infrastructure.
Hercules operates with three core principles: we ship fast and iterate quickly; we strive for excellence and get details right; we're hungry and willing to work hard to achieve outcomes. The founding team works in-office in San Francisco (Kearny and Bush) with a strong preference for in-office presence, though remote is considered for exceptional candidates willing to work US time zones and travel regularly.
Tech stack: TypeScript, React, Postgres, Redis, Clickhouse, Temporal, Docker, Terraform/CDK, Hono, Drizzle ORM, OpenTelemetry. Cloud platforms: AWS and Cloudflare. AI models: OpenAI, Anthropic, Google.

REQUIREMENTS:
- Exceptional software fundamentals: system design, architecture, data modeling, API design
- Strong code quality and codebase management, including monorepo experience
- Proven ability to scale large, data-intensive, multi-tenant distributed services
- Track record of independently shipping features with direct customer impact
- Deep expertise in core stack: TypeScript, React, containers, Postgres, Redis, Temporal
- Proficiency with AI tools and ability to leverage frontier AI coding in your workflow
- Senior or Staff-level experience (role explicitly targets this level)
