CesiumAstro is seeking a Staff Project Engineer to lead project engineering across all development phases for satellite communication systems, UAVs, launch vehicles, and airborne platforms. This role sits at the intersection of technical engineering expertise and program leadership, requiring deep experience in aerospace systems development with a preference for space flight heritage.
You will own project engineering responsibilities including developing schedules, budgets, and risk assessments for highly technical programs. Key responsibilities include coordinating cross-functional engineering teams, managing project timelines and budgets, identifying and escalating program-level issues, and ensuring proper resource allocation. You will drive complex aerospace programs to successful completion while maintaining quality standards across electronic and mechanical assembly manufacturing and supply chain operations.
The role demands strong communication skills—you will present engineering design reviews and status reports to customers and executive leadership, participate in proposal development, and serve as a technical liaison between internal teams and external stakeholders. Your practical engineering expertise will be critical in estimating project scope, managing technical risk, and translating customer requirements into executable engineering plans.
Required qualifications include demonstrated experience in aerospace systems development (space flight experience strongly preferred), project management, quality assurance, manufacturing of electronic and mechanical assemblies, and supply chain coordination. You must be comfortable working in a dynamic startup environment with hands-on, cross-functional collaboration. U.S. citizenship or eligible immigration status is required due to space technology export regulations.
