Duolingo is seeking a Staff Product Researcher to join its Product Research team and work directly with designers and product managers. The role focuses on integrating research into Duolingo's product development process to generate insights that guide teams in deciding what to build and how to build it for millions of learners worldwide.
Key responsibilities include setting research direction with cross-functional partners by identifying high-impact questions and translating them into prioritized research projects. You will lead end-to-end research across the product lifecycle, including discovery on major initiatives, concept testing, and post-launch UX/UI iterations. The role requires developing strong product intuition to generate insights and ideas that connect learner experience to product strategy, measurable outcomes, and tradeoffs.
You will build visibility for research by establishing systems for sharing outputs and delivering regular, decision-focused updates that keep stakeholders aligned. Beyond individual projects, you'll elevate research impact through leadership by mentoring other researchers, upleveling research practices, and introducing innovative methods and tooling that increase speed and rigor.
This is a high-impact, fast-paced position for a mixed-method researcher who can drive clarity in ambiguous spaces, influence product decisions, and deliver actionable insights at the pace of product development. The ideal candidate has 8+ years of experience leading product research for consumer-facing digital products, including owning complex problem spaces. You should have mixed-method, collaborative research experience working with designers and product managers, and demonstrated ability to generate clear, concise insights that drive successful product outcomes. Experience with AI tools throughout the research process and thriving in high-velocity environments while maintaining research rigor are essential. Exceptional candidates may have international research experience, SQL familiarity, or background in consumer tech or gaming.
