As a Legal Engineer, you will sit at the intersection of legal practice, AI product development, data quality, and model evaluation. This is not a traditional legal counsel role. Instead, you will work closely with Machine Learning Engineers, Product, Software Engineering, and Data Annotation teams to:
- Translate legal workflows and processes into clear product and machine learning requirements
- Evaluate model behavior and output quality against real-world legal standards
- Identify legal edge cases and corner cases that AI systems must handle correctly
- Help define what high-quality legal AI output looks like in practice
- Build trust in AI systems by ensuring they work reliably in actual legal contexts
- Bridge the gap between legal domain expertise and technical AI development
This role requires strong technical execution combined with deep legal judgment. You need to understand both how legal professionals work and how AI systems reason over case data, understand documents, generate work products, and retrieve grounded answers. Your work will directly impact the automation of high-value legal workflows and the quality of AI-assisted legal work.
