Salary: USD 184,000 - 230,000 / annual
Gusto is seeking a Staff Product Manager to own core Wallet experiences within the Consumer Money team, working at the intersection of payroll and consumer banking. Gusto Wallet provides direct access to pay and financial tools including spend accounts, savings goals, paycheck splitting, and on-demand access to earned wages. This role will build products that help workers smooth cash flow between paychecks, save automatically, and avoid predatory alternatives like payday lenders and overdraft fees.
Day-to-day responsibilities include:
- Owning roadmap initiatives spanning Gusto financial services across spending, saving, credit, and money management
- Shipping consumer banking experiences across the full customer lifecycle (onboarding, activation, everyday usage, retention, support) across all customer touchpoints
- Taking full ownership of business outcomes for your workstream
- Serving as the fintech infrastructure and payments expert who untangles complexity and ships durable systems
- Leveraging Gusto's unique position in the payroll ecosystem to build consumer features only possible at income origination
- Deeply understanding hourly and salaried workforces to craft compelling product narratives and drive real financial progress
- Collaborating cross-functionally with Product, Engineering, Design, Data, Risk, Compliance, Legal, and Operations teams
- Evaluating and executing opportunities with external vendors (issuing banks, card processors, banking infrastructure providers)
- Defining and tracking KPIs around activation, funding, engagement, and retention to drive prioritization and iteration

Requirements:
- 7+ years of product management experience with directly related work in accounting, financial software, or adjacent domain (mandatory)
- Familiarity with AI tools and comfort using them, including for prototyping to accelerate development
- Data-oriented mindset with experience using data to inform decisions and track outcomes
- Meaningful familiarity with accounting concepts (journal entries, reconciliation flows) and ability to ramp quickly into accounting product space
- Comfort facing ambiguous problems
- Ability to wear multiple hats (user research, forecasting, prototyping) in the same week
- Understanding of how individual features fit into broader accounting systems
- Comfort working through detailed workflows, edge cases, data mappings, ledger concepts, and controls
- Strong prioritization frameworks to deliver on customer needs and business outcomes
