Affirm is seeking a Staff Product Manager to lead the evolution of its Communications Platform. This role spans two interconnected areas: modernizing the platform that powers critical transactional communications across multiple channels, and building shared capabilities that enable coordinated experiences between marketing and transactional communications.
You will partner closely with Engineering and cross-functional teams across Product, Marketing, Operations, Design, Analytics, and Legal & Compliance to set product direction and drive adoption. The role involves navigating complex technical and business tradeoffs, balancing immediate needs with long-term platform investments, and making strategic build-versus-buy decisions.
Key responsibilities include:
- Setting product strategy and roadmap for the Communications Platform, aligning customer needs, business priorities, and technical opportunities
- Modernizing Affirm's communications infrastructure and building shared capabilities for consistent experiences across transactional and marketing channels
- Leading complex platform initiatives from strategy through launch and adoption in partnership with Engineering
- Building relationships across Affirm to ensure communications needs for new products, markets, and customer journeys are reflected in platform planning
- Shaping channel, platform, and partner strategy with thoughtful build-versus-buy analysis
- Making clear tradeoffs across customer experience, reliability, scalability, cost, regulatory requirements, and speed
- Defining success metrics and using customer, product, operational, and business signals to guide priorities
This is a remote-first position based in the UK with the option to work from Affirm's London office for those who prefer an in-office environment.
Requirements:
- 8+ years of product management experience or equivalent, with a track record of leading complex products or platforms
- Experience building platform or other technically complex products (comms or messaging experience helpful but not required)
- Strong product judgment and ability to turn complex, ambiguous problems into clear strategy and actionable roadmap
- Technical fluency and comfort partnering deeply with Engineering on architecture, reliability, scalability, and platform tradeoffs
- Track record of taking products beyond launch and driving adoption across multiple teams or customer groups
- Strong cross-functional influence and ability to build alignment across teams with different priorities and constraints
- Strong analytical and business judgment, weighing customer impact, operating complexity, cost, and risk in decision-making
- Clear written and verbal communication skills, making complex topics understandable and bringing stakeholders along in decision-making
- Customer-first mindset and ability to stay focused on platform experience even when working deep in infrastructure
- Comfort operating with ambiguity, using judgment and available information to move work forward while adapting as you learn
