Babylist is seeking a Staff Product Designer to own the design vision for a major product experience. This is a durable design leadership role where you'll be the company's go-to authority on how a core experience should feel, function, and evolve. You'll shape how parents discover products, build registries, receive gifts, and navigate early parenthood across web and native mobile. These interactions matter deeply—families are making decisions during one of life's most meaningful transitions, so the experience must be intuitive, beautiful, and emotionally resonant. Key responsibilities include: owning the full design of a major experience area; running user research (generative and evaluative) to unlock actionable insights; building working prototypes in hours rather than days using AI-native tools; contributing production-quality front-end code to ensure polish is never compromised; setting standards for AI-native product design that the broader team adopts; thinking systemically about how individual interactions fit into broader flows and the design system; and holding yourself accountable for business impact, not just shipping. You'll work alongside product managers, engineers, and data partners, but you drive the experience layer and ensure every interaction meets both functional and emotional user needs. You're equally skilled at craft (transitions, motion, accessibility), research, prototyping, and front-end development. You use AI tools to move from rough concept to interactive prototype quickly, preferring to validate with users early over perfecting comps. You write production frontend code and don't depend on engineers to translate your designs. You think strategically about product direction, can articulate and defend where experiences are heading, and communicate context and decisions clearly to everyone from ICs to C-Suite. You're a systems thinker who sees how single interactions fit into broader flows and design coherence. You stay current with modern product design patterns and best practices, knowing when to apply them or evolve them for Babylist's unique needs. You seek feedback continuously, stress-test assumptions, and make clean iterate/pivot/stop decisions based on evidence. You're adaptable, humble, low-ego, and biased toward action—jumping in where needed without waiting for permission. You're excited about the AI transformation of product development and see it as an opportunity, not a threat.
