With 2,300+ employees across 27 offices and a $11B valuation, Airwallex is backed by leading investors including Sequoia, Visa, Mastercard, and T. Rowe Price. As Staff Product Designer for Spend, you will lead high-impact design work on complex financial products. You'll collaborate closely with product managers and engineers from day one, shaping solutions and challenging briefs to deliver exceptional customer outcomes. Design sits at the center of product strategy at Airwallex, giving designers real influence over what gets built and how. Key responsibilities include: defining design requirements and scoping projects with product managers; developing lean design plans that account for research, brainstorming, and user testing phases; managing project timelines to ensure high-quality deliverables; collaborating with engineers at critical design moments; researching and advocating for user needs throughout development; partnering with cross-functional teams to explore innovative solutions; leading end-to-end UX design across desktop, mobile web, and native apps; and developing deep domain knowledge in spend management and financial systems. You'll have direct access to senior leadership and work on visible, complex problems at global scale. The role requires minimum 6 years as a UX/Product designer with expertise across desktop web, mobile web, and native app experiences. You need a strong portfolio demonstrating complex systems, multi-channel journeys, and intricate object relationships. Required skills include proficiency in UX methods (generative research, information architecture, interaction design, user testing) and system-level thinking. Excellent communication skills are essential for articulating design rationale to technical and non-technical stakeholders. You must have a proven track record of project management and delivery in fast-paced environments and thrive in startup settings with ambiguous scopes. Nice-to-haves include experience in financial services and a degree in Design, HCI, or related field. The role operates on a hybrid schedule (3 days per week in office) in San Francisco. Airwallex values builders with founder-like energy, strong expertise, sharp thinking, and mission-driven motivation. The company emphasizes moving fast with good judgment, digging deep with curiosity, making first-principles decisions, and using AI to work smarter.
