Netlify's User Experience team is seeking a Staff Product Designer & Researcher to lead the evolution of developer experience across the platform. This is a generalist role combining strategic design leadership with hands-on research operations, working cross-functionally with engineering, product, developer education, support, marketing, and sales teams. You will own design initiatives ranging from iterative feature improvements to high-ambiguity explorations requiring innovation. Key responsibilities include leading projects from research through full realization, collaborating cross-functionally to represent UX perspectives, contributing to design systems and accessibility practices, and managing the research practice including participant recruiting, study setup, and findings communication. Your background should demonstrate strategic-level design leadership on technical products or platforms, with proficiency in iterative development from problem definition through interaction and UI design. You'll need strong skills in prototyping, storytelling at various fidelities, and comfort working with developers on presentation-layer technologies (HTML, CSS). Experience with Figma and GitHub is expected. A critical part of this role involves research operations: managing participant databases, scoping and executing usability studies with minimal guidance, and establishing strong async communication rhythms. You should bring rigor for accessibility, consistency, and quality standards, with demonstrated autonomy in cross-disciplinary environments. A growth mindset and curiosity about new technologies and methodologies is essential. While not required, additional experience in iconography, branding, front-end engineering, or content design is welcome. Netlify has no educational requirements—self-taught candidates are encouraged to apply. The company welcomes candidates based in the US and Canada.
