Preply is a unicorn edtech platform (Series D, $150M) that connects 100,000+ tutors teaching 90+ languages to learners across 180 countries. The company is building human-led, AI-enhanced learning experiences at global scale.
As a Staff Product Designer, you will be a highly independent individual contributor taking on Preply's most complex and ambitious product challenges. You'll work closely with Product and Engineering to shape product vision and strategy, challenge direction when warranted, and translate that thinking into exceptional, shipped experiences.
Key responsibilities:
- Co-create product vision and strategy with Product and Engineering, bringing strong design perspective to priorities and opportunities
- Own complex, high-impact work end-to-end, from greenfield challenges through shipped experience
- Create bold, differentiating experiences with exceptional interaction and visual craft, thoughtful judgment, and a clear point of view
- Multiply impact by coaching and mentoring other designers, influencing teams beyond your immediate area, and evolving design practices and standards across Preply
This role offers significant independence and scope. Depending on the challenge, you may go deep within a product area or work across high-priority initiatives. You'll help define how Design operates at Preply and raise the bar for craft and execution.
Preply offers a collaborative, diverse culture; generous learning allowance on Preply; L&D budget; competitive financial package with equity; health insurance; and mental/physical health support.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Staff, Lead, or equivalent experience in a mature product design organization, working on consumer-facing, mobile-first products at scale
- Track record of shaping product vision and strategy (not just executing against it) in close partnership with Product and Engineering
- Exceptional interaction and visual craft, with strong product judgment, clear point of view, and experimental mindset
- Demonstrated impact beyond your own work: coaching designers, raising craft bar, influencing how teams work
- Intentional approach to AI in design practice—knowing where it adds value, where it introduces noise, and how to judge output quality
