Checkr is a data platform powering safe and fair decisions through AI verification. The company serves over 140,000 companies and millions of users across hiring, housing, transportation, childcare, and dating use cases. Major customers include Uber, Airbnb, DoorDash, and Anthropic. Checkr is a Forbes Cloud 100 2025 company and Y Combinator 2024 Breakthrough Company. You will join the Growth team as a Staff Product Designer, embedding directly with the group to define roadmap, vision, and lead design initiatives. Your primary focus will be funnel optimization, new user experience (NUX), and personalization for guided flows. You'll leverage AI to create tailored customer experiences and design growth systems, experiments, and product features that translate quantitative and qualitative insights into testable hypotheses. Key responsibilities include owning design for conversion optimization and user onboarding, championing seamless experiences for SMB users, facilitating ideation workshops, and distilling complex information into elegant user interfaces. You'll partner closely with product, engineering, and research teams to conceptualize, build, and ship user-friendly, business-driven solutions. You'll participate in UX research independently, apply findings to designs, and advocate for user needs while managing stakeholder feedback and challenging assumptions. You bring 7+ years of professional design experience, with at least 4 years focused on growth, e-commerce, or merchandising where your work directly drove conversion, basket price, and adoption gains. You excel in onboarding and merchandising surfaces, are comfortable with iterative A/B testing, and know when to push for broader strategic approaches. You're innately curious, comfortable conducting UX research independently, and thrive in complex, fast-paced environments. You balance craft, critical thinking, and business needs to deliver holistic experiences. Experience with behavioral science and B2B companies serving SMBs is valued. You operate with an A-player mindset: raising the bar, moving with urgency, staying resilient through ambiguity, and taking ownership of meaningful outcomes.
