Norm AI is an agentic law company that has pioneered Legal Engineering—a process enabling lawyers to build and supervise domain-specific AI agents using proprietary no-code software tools. The company serves a client base with combined assets under management exceeding $30 trillion and is deployed across major financial and legal institutions globally.
Norm Law is an affiliated AI-native law firm that pairs experienced attorneys with software to deliver legal work with greater speed, certainty, and transparency than traditional billable-hour models. Attorneys focus on building client relationships, negotiating deals, and providing legal advice while training AI agents and improving supporting systems.
As Staff Product Designer, you will shape the software experience behind this new law firm model. The primary focus is matter management—how legal work is broken down, tracked, automated, reviewed, and delivered. You'll design systems that help attorneys understand what's happening across a matter, identify what requires their judgment, and determine what can safely be handled by AI.
Legal work is inherently difficult to manage because much of it exists outside formal systems: email threads, document comments, side conversations, client preferences, and partner judgment. The design challenge is making this work easier to see, track, and automate while preserving the trust and judgment that legal work demands.
You'll have proximity to a live legal environment where attorneys, engineers, and designers work close to real client matters, learning from active legal work and continuously improving the system. The path from observation to shipped product is intentionally short.
Responsibilities include designing matter management and task-tracking workflows for attorneys, partners, and legal operators; spending meaningful time with Norm Law users to understand workflow bottlenecks and visibility gaps; defining what should be automated versus assisted versus kept under attorney control; prototyping quickly using code, Cursor, Claude Design, or AI-assisted tools; partnering closely with engineering and product from problem definition through launch; and evolving the design system and product patterns as the platform expands.
Ideal candidates have 6+ years of product design experience shipping real products with strong interaction, visual, and systems craft. You should have a track record of getting close to users and translating messy context into simple product decisions, strong judgment about when to add structure versus reduce friction, and a build-first mindset that favors rapid prototyping and early testing over abstract debate. Intentional AI usage in your own process is expected—using it to move faster and think better, not to skip hard work.
Bonus qualifications include experience designing legal, healthcare, finance, or expert professional workflows; project management, CRM, case management, or systems-of-record products; comfort with Git, code, or version-controlled prototyping; design system contribution or scaling experience; and meaningful code contributions outside prototyping contexts.
