Salary: CAD 169,200 - 228,900 / annual

You will join the Foundations team, responsible for design systems, patterns, and surfaces that enable consistent, high-quality experiences across Jobber's product suite on multiple platforms. In this Staff-level role, you will lead the evolution of Jobber's design system and establish new approaches to how teams incorporate design thinking in an AI-driven design and development landscape.
Key responsibilities include:
- Lead design system initiatives to create scalable component systems and product-level interaction patterns across platforms
- Serve as steward of Jobber's brand and experience principles, fostering thoughtful visual and interaction design company-wide
- Identify system gaps and proactively drive solutions that improve consistency, usability, and UX quality at scale
- Define and evolve governance models, contribution processes, and best practices for design system adoption
- Partner with Engineering leaders to raise implementation quality and improve how design system best practices integrate into AI-backed design and development tools
- Collaborate with designers across product teams to support system adoption, share best practices, and inform system iteration
- Lead UX quality initiatives and roadmap planning across visual design, interaction design, accessibility, usability, and performance
- Mentor team members to build a culture of collaboration, feedback, and continuous improvement
You will work at the intersection of design, engineering, and systems thinking, collaborating closely with designers, product managers, and engineers across the company to help teams build better experiences faster and turn good ideas into enduring, high-quality experiences.
Requirements:
- Portfolio demonstrating design craft, systems thinking, and measurable impact on product quality or team efficiency
- 5–10 years of experience designing and evolving design systems, including major initiatives such as system redesigns or new product creation
- Track record of leading complex projects or initiatives that improved design consistency and quality across an organization
- Deep expertise in interaction design, UI patterns, and visual design
- Deep understanding of accessibility standards across platforms
- Strong expertise collaborating with engineers and translating design to code
- Strong technical literacy with front-end technologies (HTML, CSS, frameworks like React)
- Strong expertise with Figma (components, tokens, auto-layout, prototyping)
- Strong opinions on the evolving AI design landscape, including how people design, prototype, share patterns, and document work
- Track record of making effective decisions that scale across organizations, balancing flexibility with standardization
- Proven ability to work cross-functionally, build alignment with senior leaders, and inform strategy
Bonus qualifications:
- Experience scaling a design system in a fast-growing, multi-product environment
- Experience designing complex B2B SaaS tools for small-business customers (SMB)
- Coding skills including TypeScript; ability to implement tokens and improve component quality hands-on
- Passion for blending design and code roles, extending design into implementation and vice versa
