Otter is a software platform that helps restaurants succeed in online food delivery. The company serves major brands including Chick-fil-A, Ben & Jerry's, KFC, and Eataly, and operates in a rapidly growing market (US online food delivery expanded 10X from $10B to $100B in five years). As Product Designer for Platform, you will define the experience architecture and critical cross-product systems that shape how Otter functions as a unified platform. Your work will directly influence the foundations that every product team builds upon and some of the most important customer lifecycle journeys. Key responsibilities include: - Define platform-level experience architecture across navigation, hierarchy, permissions, configuration, entitlements, and shared interaction patterns - Lead critical cross-product workflows such as onboarding, activation, setup, upsell, and expansion - Simplify complex, workflow-heavy tools by creating clear mental models, scalable interaction frameworks, and reusable product patterns - Partner deeply with Product and Engineering to align user experience with underlying system models, platform capabilities, and technical constraints - Work closely with the Design System team to translate shared product patterns into reusable, consistent UI foundations - Embrace new technologies and ways of working to prototype faster and iterate more effectively - Explore how AI and new technologies can lower the barrier to complex software and shift experiences from "using tools" to "getting outcomes as a service" The role is based in the Los Angeles office with onsite work five days per week. The company emphasizes close collaboration and continuous innovation. REQUIREMENTS: - 10+ years of product design experience, or equivalent seniority, with a track record of leading complex, high-impact product work - Strong systems thinking and information architecture skills, with experience designing workflow-heavy products or tools with meaningful complexity - Proven ability to define scalable experience models, frameworks, and patterns that work across multiple products, teams, or customer journeys - Excellent product judgment, including the ability to simplify complexity while balancing usability, flexibility, and technical constraints - Strong cross-functional leadership and influence, with the ability to drive alignment across Product, Engineering, Design, and other stakeholders - Comfort working with complex system models, including permissions, configuration, object relationships, states, dependencies, and edge cases - Experience partnering closely with Design System teams and understanding the relationship between product architecture and reusable UI foundations - Adaptable and forward-looking in how design gets done, with meaningful use of emerging technologies such as AI, prototyping, and implementation tools - Comfortable operating in ambiguity and proactively identifying opportunities beyond a single feature or product area - B2B or enterprise experience is a plus but not required; complexity of product and workflows is prioritized
