Checkout.com is a global fintech platform powering over 10 billion transactions yearly for more than one billion shoppers. The company operates 20 offices across six continents with London as headquarters, serving major clients like eBay, Spotify, Klarna, Uber, and Sony. You'll join a Design organization of 30+ specialists spanning Product Design, Research, Content, and Technical Writing. The team operates as an AI-native organization with AI integrated into end-to-end design processes. This Staff Product Designer role is an individual contributor position leading design for a new, high-growth product area being built from the ground up. You'll report to a Senior Director of Product Design and work from the London office 3 days per week in a hybrid capacity. Key responsibilities include: - Owning design vision, strategy, and execution for a nascent product area from discovery through launch - Partnering as an equal with Product and Engineering leadership to advocate for users in senior forums - Shipping high-craft, mobile-first experiences on native iOS and Android grounded in research and data - Setting quality standards, mentoring peers, and contributing to the global design system Success means establishing a clear, trusted design vision and strategy; shipping foundational mobile-first experiences from zero-to-one with measurable impact; and becoming the go-to design expert whose craft sets the bar. Required experience includes Staff- or Principal-level design craft delivered autonomously end-to-end; a track record of zero-to-one product development in ambiguous, fast-moving spaces; ownership of complex domains partnering with Product and Engineering; native mobile (iOS/Android) shipping experience; decisions grounded in research and data with advanced Figma and design-systems fluency; and strategic presence with senior stakeholders including AI workflow integration. Nice-to-have qualifications include payments, fintech, SaaS, or e-commerce experience (ideally B2B); exposure to high-growth startups or incubator/accelerator programs; and interest in transitioning into people leadership as the area scales.
