Aiwyn is a modern accounting platform backed by top-tier investors (Bessemer, KKR, Revolution) and one of the fastest-growing SaaS companies globally. The Design organization is at an inflection point as the product surface area expands across business lines, requiring designers who can operate above individual teams and shape platform coherence. This Staff-level role begins with a clear mandate: preparing the design system to support AI-driven prototyping and development. As AI tools increasingly generate and modify interfaces, the system must be consistent and well-structured to enable this at scale. Your initial focus will be building that foundation, with flexibility to shift toward high-impact areas as the system matures. Key responsibilities include defining quality standards for owned surfaces, driving strategic direction and consistency of the design system, contributing to product strategy and vision, solving system-level design challenges, leading research efforts, mentoring other designers, and communicating design rationale to cross-functional and executive audiences. Success means the design system becomes a force multiplier for engineering and design, product teams move faster through solving shared problems, mentored designers show observable growth, leadership trusts your judgment on high-stakes design calls, and design's influence in cross-functional conversations visibly increases. You'll operate with real autonomy in ambiguous situations, figure out what needs to be done, make the case for it, and own outcomes. You care about people as much as pixels, mentor generously, and help others see problems more clearly. This role sits at the intersection of craft and AI-assisted workflows—the mechanism that allows engineers and AI to produce on-system UI without designers touching every screen, enabling product quality to scale without just adding headcount.
