Inkitt is building an AI-driven entertainment company that discovers unknown stories and turns them into blockbuster hits. The company operates four consumer products: Galatea (serialized fiction with millions of readers), CandyJar (the #1 US-based microdrama platform with billions of episodes streamed), Ironblood (a new AI-native streaming platform for action and adventure), and Inkitt (the underlying writing and discovery platform). Inkitt has become the 11th most bestseller-generating publisher globally with a 40x higher hit-rate than traditional publishers.
In this Staff Product Manager role, you will own one of the four product lines end-to-end, including all revenue attached to it. You will set the idea agenda for your area, defend it with data, and drive execution from spec through design, engineering, QA, and launch. The role operates with a unique philosophy: the founder and CEO sets company priorities, but you own the ideas. You will spend part of every day researching competitors, industry trends, and users to generate high-impact feature ideas, maintaining a live Top 3 list of the highest-impact ideas for your area.
You will pitch ideas on a single slide with impact calculations. Anything requiring over a week of engineering needs a rigorous business case demonstrating ROI. You own execution outright, including release and A/B ramping. Four weeks after launch, every feature is reviewed against your predicted impact—you cannot inflate forecasts to win approval, as your forecast becomes your scorecard. Your performance is measured on how often you beat your own Top 3 and the realized impact of what you ship.
Key responsibilities include: owning a product line end-to-end with attached revenue; setting and defending the idea agenda with numbers; building rigorous business cases for substantial work; driving work through the full product cycle at an aggressive cadence; designing and running experiments with honest reporting of results; raising the standard of product thinking across the team; and hitting the impact you predicted.
This is not a roadmap-delivery role. You generate ideas, pitch them, get rejected often, sharpen your thinking, and re-pitch continuously alongside execution. The role has no direct reports and requires hands-on individual contribution. You will be based in San Francisco with five days a week onsite.
REQUIREMENTS:
- 8+ years of professional experience with deep, demonstrable ownership of consumer product where users pay directly and frequently
- Proven ability to be useful in week two: you have built and owned paywalls, pricing, coins and offers, retention loops, onboarding at real scale
- Exceptional analytical ability including advanced SQL; you build your own models and check others'
- Quantifiable track record of revenue impact with documented methodology
- Comfort operating as a hands-on individual contributor
- Based in San Francisco; five days a week onsite
- Nice to have: experience with free-to-play games, serialized fiction, short-form video or audio, coins/virtual currency/offer design/live operations, or founder/first-employee experience
