Salary: USD 220,000 - 300,000 / annual
Kalepa is building professional-grade AI systems for the insurance industry, automating underwriting, claims, pricing, and operations workflows. The company's products are already in production with leading insurers and backed by top-tier investors including IA Ventures and Inspired Capital.
As a Staff Platform Engineer on the Infrastructure team, you will own the infrastructure and tooling that power Kalepa's core platform. Your responsibilities include maintaining and improving CI/CD pipelines, automating operational workflows, ensuring security and compliance with industry standards, and optimizing system performance and cost. You'll collaborate with full-stack, data, AI, and DevOps engineers to build scalable backend solutions and help standardize deployment patterns across the organization.
Key focus areas include improving infrastructure performance and reliability, monitoring and optimizing cloud costs, maintaining observability and incident response processes, and ensuring the scalability of cloud-based systems as the company grows. You'll work on a small, high-impact team where individual contributions directly influence both technology and business outcomes.
The ideal candidate has 8+ years of software engineering or DevOps experience, with demonstrated expertise in infrastructure, performance, security, or compliance. You excel at your craft, take full ownership of projects, communicate proactively with stakeholders, and thrive on experimentation and solving novel problems. Strong fundamentals in system design, debugging, and problem-solving are essential. You should be comfortable working independently with minimal oversight while driving projects to completion.
