Arc is electrifying the marine industry by rethinking powertrains, software, and vessel designs. The company has proven technology, signed contracts with commercial clients (tugs, ferries, defense), and is scaling production across consumer and commercial segments.
As Staff People and Learning Partner, you will own the people strategy for Sales, Service, and G&A organizations while building manager development and career growth systems company-wide. This is a strategic, hands-on role split roughly 40% learning & development and 60% people operations and business partnership.
Business Partnership (60%): You'll act as trusted advisor to leaders on organizational design, headcount planning, and reporting structures as teams scale. You'll coach managers through the full performance cycle—goal setting, calibration, feedback, promotions, and performance improvement—grounded in Arc's leveling guidelines. You'll conduct employee relations investigations end-to-end, lead terminations and role changes with dignity, advise on California employment law and compensation practices across exempt, non-exempt, and commissioned populations, and translate people data (attrition, engagement, promotion velocity) into actionable insights. You'll also lead change management for policy and process rollouts, preparing managers before teams hear the news.
Learning & Development (40%): You'll build and facilitate Arc's manager development curriculum from first-time supervisor fundamentals through senior topics like coaching, delegation, difficult conversations, and performance calibration. You'll design career pathways for individual contributors that make the leveling framework concrete—what impact looks like at each level, which skills close gaps, and how to build them. You'll run skills gap analyses with functional leaders and turn them into learning roadmaps tied to business priorities. You own the curriculum, teach it yourself, and measure impact. This is not a coordinator role; it's a strategic learning leadership position.
You'll report to the Senior Staff People Partner and partner closely with functional leaders. The work spans exempt corporate teams, commissioned sales, and field-based service organizations, requiring range and flexibility. You'll thrive here if you move fast, take ownership, care about details, and are fired up by the mission. This is a full-time, on-site role at Arc's Los Angeles headquarters.
