Heron Power Electronics is building cutting-edge power electronics products to accelerate sustainable electrification and debottleneck grid growth. The company focuses on scalable, innovative hardware solutions for connecting large-scale renewables, storage, and loads like datacenters to the grid.
As Staff Multidisciplinary Designer, you will shape Heron's products, experiences, and visual language. This is a broad design role centered on industrial design, spanning physical product design, product UX, visual communication, and brand. You might develop the form, architecture, interfaces, and details of new power electronics products; improve how operators interact with products; or create graphics, infographics, and documentation that clarify complex ideas.
You will work closely with the Head of Design and leadership across mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, manufacturing, software, and commercial teams. You'll move fluidly between defining problems, exploring concepts, prototyping solutions, developing production-ready designs, and bringing them to market.
Key responsibilities include: driving industrial design efforts from early architecture through production; collaborating with engineers to understand technical constraints and develop thoughtful solutions; exploring product architecture, form, materials, finishes, interfaces, and manufacturing processes; building prototypes and renderings to test ideas; defining physical interaction patterns including installation, operation, and service; contributing to digital UX where physical and digital experiences intersect; developing clear visual communication for technical concepts; extending Heron's visual identity; establishing design systems and principles; and advocating for users while balancing engineering, manufacturing, cost, and business requirements.
You must bring significant professional experience designing and shipping physical products, with a portfolio demonstrating exceptional industrial design thinking, strong taste, and breadth across disciplines. Strong industrial design fundamentals are essential: form development, proportion, product architecture, CMF, ergonomics, manufacturing processes, and detailing. You need strong 3D skills with CAD, rendering, prototyping, and physical modeling. Experience collaborating closely with engineering teams within real technical, manufacturing, cost, and schedule constraints is required. Strong graphic and visual communication skills—layout, composition, typography, information hierarchy, diagrams, presentation design—are critical. You should be able to take complex technical information and make it understandable through design, and think about products as complete experiences, not just objects.
