Salary: USD 181,000 - 262,000 / annual

Aurora is building autonomous vehicle technology to transform transportation and logistics. The Hardware Reliability team ensures the robustness and dependability of hardware systems in Aurora's autonomous vehicle stack, validating components to meet automotive standards under demanding field conditions. In this Staff-level role, you will lead hardware reliability testing and validation for automotive power and compute hardware. You'll oversee the design and implementation of comprehensive reliability testing protocols including stress tests, environmental tests (thermal cycling, vibration, humidity), and failure mode analysis. You'll analyze failure data to identify root causes and drive corrective actions across hardware design and development processes. Key responsibilities include collaborating with cross-functional teams (electrical, firmware, mechanical, software, manufacturing) to ensure system reliability; creating detailed reports on testing findings and presenting to stakeholders to inform hardware improvements and risk decisions; and mentoring reliability engineers to drive adoption of best practices across the organization. You'll need 5+ years of hardware reliability engineering experience, preferably in automotive, aerospace, or heavy-duty vehicle industries. Required expertise includes hardware design principles, reliability testing methodologies (HALT/HASS, vibration, thermal cycling), failure analysis techniques (8D, 5-Why, Fishbone), and data analysis tools (Python, JMP). Strong understanding of firmware-hardware interactions and automotive requirement concepts is essential. Desirable qualifications include knowledge of automotive safety standards (ISO 26262, ISO 16750), experience with automotive electronics/ECU or compute hardware, supplier quality/reliability work (PPAP), and test automation infrastructure knowledge. A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field is required.
