Anduril Industries, a defense technology company, seeks a Staff Global Sourcing Manager for Raw Metals to serve as the domain expert for metals commodities. This high-impact role is responsible for developing and executing comprehensive commodity strategies for raw metals including stainless steel, aluminum, and titanium, with focus on cost reduction, technology development, quality improvement, and supply chain resilience.
Key responsibilities include end-to-end ownership of material delivery quality and cost optimization; aggregating raw metals usage across all business units to develop company-wide sourcing strategies; leading RFI/RFQ/RFP processes and strategic sourcing activities; managing external supplier relationships with accountability for supply continuity, risk management, cost negotiations, and new product introduction execution; and partnering with engineering teams to influence technical design specifications.
The role requires detailed analysis of supplier quotes using total cost of ownership (TCO) frameworks, negotiation of commercial agreements reflecting project expectations (fixed/variable costs, lead times, schedules, manufacturing capacity), and regular commodity reviews to executive leadership. You will manage supplier performance metrics across delivery, quality, cost, and innovation; serve as primary escalation for your commodity; and influence supplier manufacturing processes and capital expenditure decisions.
This position demands strong cross-functional collaboration, technical direction within specific commodities, and the ability to evaluate and guide product strategy throughout the lifecycle. The role involves up to 50% travel and requires relocation to Costa Mesa if not already local. A bachelor's degree in supply chain, engineering, or related technical field and 10+ years of supply chain commodity management experience in raw metals and/or sourcing engineering are required. Preferred qualifications include mechanical or metallurgical/materials engineering background, prior defense/aerospace/automotive/high-tech industry experience, TCO analysis expertise, strategic commodity roadmap development, proven cross-functional leadership, and ability to obtain a U.S. TS clearance.
