bunch is building the operating infrastructure for private markets, combining AI-powered automation with deep regulatory expertise to replace fragmented processes with an integrated platform for fund lifecycle management. As Staff Frontend Engineer, you will shape the architecture, quality, and developer experience of the product surfaces customers and internal teams rely on daily. You will work across product teams to make frontend systems scalable, reliable, accessible, and fast while helping engineers ship with clarity and confidence. This is not only a delivery role—your decisions will influence how frontend engineering at bunch evolves: the standards adopted, patterns reused, quality bar held, and how product, design, and engineering collaborate.
Top priorities include: leading the migration from Svelte to React while sequencing work against product delivery; maintaining and evolving the design system with the frontend guild; supporting and guiding frontend initiatives across teams on application architecture, performance, testing, developer experience, and technical debt; raising the bar for UX and UI quality through design reviews, reusable patterns, mentoring, and technical writing; and advancing how the team builds with AI by finding where agentic tooling genuinely improves engineering practice and shaping the codebase accordingly.
In your first 90 days, you will map the frontend architecture, product domains, design system, team workflows, and bottlenecks (30 days); publish a structured problem analysis and proposal for one cross-team frontend initiative with clear trade-offs and success measures (60 days); and lead a systemic improvement from kickoff to measurable progress while helping Senior Engineers grow (90 days).
Tech stack: TypeScript, React, Svelte (consolidating on React), Node.js, Nest.js, MySQL, Kubernetes on AWS, GitHub, FusionAuth, Okta, Retool, Twilio, SendGrid, and Tally.

REQUIREMENTS:
- Track record of operating at Staff scope (with or without title) and shipping systemic frontend or product-engineering improvements across multiple teams
- Deep expertise in modern frontend engineering: TypeScript, component architecture, state management, design systems, accessibility, performance, testing, and maintainable application architecture
- Daily use of AI coding tools with experience beyond autocomplete into agentic workflows; considered view on where they genuinely help and what a codebase needs for effective agent collaboration
- Product judgment: care about user experience as much as technical solution; ability to translate ambiguous workflows and business constraints into pragmatic, elegant product experiences
- Systems thinking: comfortable reasoning across frontend, backend, APIs, infrastructure, observability, security, and compliance
- Operating style: think in quarters and years; drive cross-team change through credibility, clear writing, architectural reasoning, and stakeholder alignment rather than authority
- Collaborative leadership: proactive relationship-builder who sets technical direction and influences without formal authority; manages diverse stakeholders; mentors engineers
- Fluent English (written and spoken) to make complex technical decisions legible to engineers, product partners, design partners, and leadership
