Salary: USD 166,000 - 220,000 / annual
Anduril Industries is seeking a Staff Flight Test Engineer to lead developmental test activities for the Fury Group 5 Unmanned Air System (UAS). This is a senior technical role focused on planning, coordination, execution, and reporting of comprehensive test programs for advanced autonomous defense systems.
You will own senior-level development flight test engineering responsibilities with emphasis on resource planning, ground and flight test execution, initial issue investigation, and process improvement. You will lead and collaborate with teams of flight test engineers, functional engineers, and program representatives to conduct test events at private and government-owned test ranges. Your work will directly impact the fielding of cutting-edge military systems powered by Lattice OS, Anduril's AI-powered command and control platform.
Key responsibilities include:
- Perform senior-level development flight test activities for the Fury UAS, with focus on resource planning, ground/flight testing, issue investigation, and process development
- Lead or participate in teams conducting ground and flight test events at private and government test ranges
- Collect and analyze test data for systems under test
- Collaborate closely with engineering teams to develop requirements, discuss test results, and incorporate observations
- Work safely in accordance with established operating procedures
- Travel as required for test planning and execution
The Test and Evaluation team at Anduril supports the full spectrum of products and business lines, conducting full system-level development testing, production acceptance testing, sub-component qualification testing, and more. You will work in a fast-paced, innovative environment where your contributions directly influence fielded military capabilities.
REQUIREMENTS:
- 12+ years of experience as test conductor/director for developmental aircraft, weapons, or missile systems
- Bachelor's degree in a related technical discipline from an accredited institution (or equivalent engineering experience)
- Extensive experience as test conductor/test director for developmental aircraft, weapon, or missile systems
- Test engineering experience with developmental manned and/or unmanned aircraft, including requirements development, test planning/execution, and test reporting
- Test and engineering experience in aero/performance, loads/dynamics, propulsion, or electrical domains
- Complete understanding of engineering concepts, principles, codes, and theory with broad application experience
- Working knowledge of MIL-STD-882E, MIL-STD-516C, MIL-STD-1553, MIL-STD-1760, AS5653, and related standards
- Expertise and working knowledge of the National Airspace System, government restricted airspace, and UAS operating rules/regulations
- Ability to understand new concepts quickly, apply them accurately, organize/schedule work phases, and solve complex problems
- Strong computer and documentation skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team on complex engineering tasks
- Experience with large aircraft development and Department of Defense (DoD) work
- Ability to work extended hours as required
- Eligible to obtain and maintain an active U.S. Top Secret security clearance
- Subject to pre-employment and randomized substance screening
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Prior experience with software code/script building using Go, Java, C++, Python, JavaScript, or similar languages
- Bias for action and problem-solving mindset
- Experience managing individuals or teams
- Experience with large UAS development
- Previous experience working within a Combined Test Force or equivalent
