Shield AI is a venture-backed defense-tech company developing autonomous systems for unmanned aircraft and robotic platforms. The company is hiring a Staff Field Solutions Engineer based in Warsaw to serve as a customer-facing technical expert for Hivemind, Shield AI's autonomy software solution.
In this role, you will support technical sales, customer engagements, demonstrations, and capture activities across the EURAF region, with particular focus on Poland, Eastern Europe, NATO, and allied defense customers. You will translate customer mission needs, operational concepts, and integration constraints into credible, technically feasible Hivemind solution concepts.
Key responsibilities include:
- Serve as a technical expert for Hivemind autonomy solutions, supporting customer discovery, technical briefings, demonstrations, and technical interchange meetings
- Translate customer mission requirements and operational constraints into solution concepts
- Partner with Business Development and Capture teams on RFIs, RFPs, proposals, white papers, and customer-facing technical narratives
- Explain Hivemind capabilities, limitations, roadmap considerations, and integration requirements to diverse audiences (technical, operational, commercial, leadership)
- Develop and maintain technical sales assets including capability briefs, demo scripts, solution templates, FAQs, and white papers
- Work cross-functionally with Product, Engineering, Customer Engagement, and Program teams to represent customer requirements and field feedback
- Help customers evaluate how autonomy can support operational effectiveness and force modernization
- Maintain product truth by ensuring customer-facing materials accurately reflect current capabilities and constraints
- Monitor developments in autonomy, AI, unmanned systems, and regional defense modernization priorities
- Build trusted relationships with customer technical stakeholders and internal partners
- Operate independently across complex international customer engagements while keeping stakeholders aligned
- Support regional engagement strategies by tailoring technical messaging and solutions to Polish, Eastern European, and NATO customer needs
Requirements:
- 7+ years of experience in solutions engineering, field applications engineering, systems engineering, technical sales, autonomy, robotics, defense software, aerospace, or related technical customer-facing roles
- Strong technical understanding of autonomy, AI-enabled systems, mission software, unmanned systems, robotics, or complex defense technology systems
- Experience supporting customer-facing technical engagements such as demos, technical briefings, proposal support, integration discussions, and technical interchange meetings
- Experience supporting international defense, security, aerospace, government, or advanced technology customers
- Ability to translate customer mission needs into technically feasible solution concepts, requirements, demos, and product feedback
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with ability to explain complex technical concepts to diverse audiences
- Ability to work cross-functionally with Business Development, Product Management, Engineering, Customer Engagement, and Program teams
- Strong judgment in representing product capabilities, limitations, and roadmap dependencies to customers
- Demonstrated ability to build trust with customers and internal stakeholders through technical credibility, responsiveness, and clear communication
- Willingness and ability to travel internationally for customer engagements, demonstrations, exercises, and internal meetings
- Professional fluency in Polish and English
Preferred qualifications include direct experience supporting defense, security, aerospace, autonomy, or robotics customers in Europe, NATO, Africa, or allied markets; familiarity with EURAF defense modernization priorities and acquisition processes; experience with autonomous aircraft or unmanned systems; hands-on experience with Python, C++, Linux, APIs, or autonomy software; experience supporting proposals and RFPs; prior military, defense, or aerospace background.
