Instacart is seeking a Staff Experience Designer to lead design strategy across the core grocery shopping experience. This is a high-impact role on the Design team responsible for creating personalized, end-to-end journeys for consumers across all touchpoints—including emerging AI and agentic conversational interfaces. You will drive and lead experiences across consumer-facing products, creating highly personalized journeys that meet households where they are—their routines, needs, and goals. You'll lead end-to-end experience design briefs across all surfaces and modalities, deepening how customers discover, shop, and build lasting habits with Instacart. Key responsibilities include: crafting narratives, naming, and value propositions for experiences and features; defining and owning experience frameworks that map key journeys (first 3 orders, repeat patterns, subscription adoption, household management); shaping content, hierarchy, and information architecture across surfaces; codifying experiential principles to guide user understanding and emotional resonance; using AI-assisted prototyping as a core practice; designing for visual clarity, pacing, and density; collaborating with Research to uncover customer insights and translate them into journey maps and flows; and mentoring partners to raise the bar for experience-led thinking across product pods. You'll work closely with Product, Engineering, Marketing, Brand, Data Science, and Research teams to drive measurable business outcomes while strengthening customer trust, brand affinity, and long-term loyalty. The role requires deep empathy for both prospective and existing members, blending product thinking, brand-forward storytelling, and behavioral insight to create cohesive, high-performing growth experiences. Instacart operates as a four-sided marketplace, designing for Consumer, Shoppers, Retailers, and Advertisers—this role focuses primarily on the consumer experience.
