Shield AI, a venture-backed defense-tech company, is seeking a Staff Engineer for Electromechanical Battery Design to own the full lifecycle of a new battery pack product—from concept through production and into the field.
In this role, you will drive optimal performance while managing competing constraints of size, weight, manufacturing feasibility, and reliability. You'll be hands-on across prototyping, testing, qualification, and production handoff. Key responsibilities include defining requirements and specifications, creating assembly and 2D drawings, conducting root-cause analysis on failures and production issues, and providing technical leadership across a cross-functional team executing the top-level architecture. You'll mentor junior engineers, lead design reviews, and guide program execution in a fast-paced environment.

REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
- 5+ years of experience in engineering
- Strong technical fundamentals in mechanics, thermal design, and electronics
- Demonstrated experience designing and delivering a battery product to market
- Proficiency in CAD modeling
- Experience with various manufacturing processes
