PermitFlow is hiring its first Staff Designer for Design Systems to architect and build Cornerstone, the foundational design system that will power the company's next phase of growth. This is a high-impact individual contributor role (with mandate to grow a team) focused on establishing the visual, interaction, and component standards that enable designers, engineers, and AI-driven product development to move in concert.
You'll own the full design system lifecycle: designing and shipping production-ready components, defining multi-year direction and roadmaps, establishing governance and contribution models, and creating documentation and onboarding materials. You'll work closely with frontend and platform engineering leadership to ensure the system balances shipping velocity with integrity. Accessibility, responsiveness, and performance are baked in from day one.
The role requires deep expertise in component architecture, design tokens, and cross-functional adoption. You'll advocate for the system in planning and design reviews, mentor others in design systems craft as the practice scales, and build domain knowledge in construction permitting, licensing, and inspections workflows—even if construction tech is new to you.
PermitFlow is a $1.6T industry AI company that has already delivered unprecedented speed and accuracy to over $20B in development. The company raised $90M+ in Series B funding from top-tier investors including Accel, Kleiner Perkins, Y Combinator, and Felicis.
