Ethos is a life insurance technology company transforming how life insurance is bought, sold, and underwritten. The company operates a three-sided platform serving consumers, agents, and carriers, offering instant products with no medical exams required.
You will be a Staff Content Designer, owning narrative, copywriting, and craft across the consumer experience while helping establish how content design scales as a discipline at Ethos. This is a significantly hands-on role focused on making complex financial decisions feel clear, trustworthy, and motivating.
Key responsibilities include: writing and shaping content across the entire purchase journey (landing pages, onboarding, checkout, post-purchase, and microcopy); building narrative backbones for major product flows; balancing functional clarity with emotional resonance; iterating rapidly in collaborative settings; presenting designs to leadership; evolving content standards and tone-of-voice guidelines; supporting cross-functional partners with writing and content thinking; using AI tools to produce on-brand content faster; building expertise on customers through audits, research, and interviews; and testing iterations using analytics, A/B testing, and usability research.
You'll partner daily with Product, Product Design, Research, and Analytics teams from earliest ideation through execution. The role requires strong storytelling instincts, command of plain language that simplifies complex or regulated subject matter, ability to articulate key messages and content hierarchy, presentation skills, genuine AI fluency, and comfort with Figma and regulatory constraints specific to life insurance.
Required qualifications: 6+ years of content design or content strategy experience with strong independent craft; 2+ years on direct-to-consumer digital products with portfolio showing measurable impact on conversion or revenue; ability to find and defend narrative choices with data; collaborative style that builds trust while maintaining clear point of view.
